On Saturday 19th October 2019 at David Lewis Playing Fields Beechfield United Saturday Morning Senior Team met Manchester North End and suffered a 4-1 defeat.

Preparing for this Division 1 fixture Beechy knew this was a game they should be winning, but United were punished by their opponents following some individual errors. Beechy were 3-0 down at half time, giving away two penalties plus a costly mis-timed back pass gifted North End all three goals. In the second half United worked hard to find a way back into the game however despite dominating possession wasted numerous decent chances. Striker Max Leonard eventually reduced the arrears with a goal for Beechy in the 65th minute but as United pushed for a second goal North End capitalised and on the counter-attack sealed the win with their fourth goal.

Two weeks later at home again United were in action in the Manchester Amateur Cup when they faced Failsworth Dynamos. This 2nd Round tie finished level 3-3 at the end of normal after Beechy had fought back from 3-0 down, but extra time is not required according to the competition rules so the teams were faced with a penalty kick decider. Once again United were guilty of unforced errors in the first half and following a poor clearance and a penalty Failsworth Dynamos held a 2-0 lead at half time. Beechy had basically dominated the tie in the first forty five minutes, while hitting the crossbar three times plus goalkeeper Chris Pollock saving a second penalty awarded to the visitors so once the second half kicked off United knew this tie wasn't over. But Beechy were dealt a killer blow when the visitors were awarded a third penalty and though Chris Pollock saved the resulting spot-kick during a goalmouth scramble the ball fell to a Failsworth player who slotted it into the net.

Beechy were certainly not discouraged and with thirty minutes left to play they continued to push for a way back into the game. In the 75th minute Matthew McCusker scored to reduced the arrears, and with five minutes left it was 3-2 when substitute Bako Aziz produced a fine finish. Going into injury time United secured the comeback thanks to super sub Bako Aziz who equalised and the drama continued when Beechy were denied a clear-cut penalty after Assam Ekule was clearly fouled by the Failsworth centre half as he burst into the box but the referee did not agree and when he blew for full time it was 3-3. The tie had to be decided with the taking of penalties and United lost the shoot-out 4-3 but his had been another fantastic Beechy performance ruined only by those individual errors.
