- U/7's Storm Match Report 11/10/2023
*Beechfield United (U7 Storm) 5 - 1 Moorside Rangers (Yellow)
Beechfield Storm U7's had suffered two back to back defeats for the first time with two tight games against Urmston & Stockport Villa and were emphatically able to return to form with an excellent all round performance.
The game started quickly with Charlie Sykes storming through and the ball breaking to Bryce Carroll who again was lethal in front of goal poking it past the goal keeper for 1-0. Bryce quickly returning his brace (and a familiar Marcus Rashford goal celebration) with similar poaches effort squeezing the ball past the goal keeper from close range.
At this point Moorside came to life with a number of saves from Isaiah who co-captained the side with Alfie Robinson today… however none clear cut with some consistent defending by Alfie, Ralph Cassidy and Charlie who all contributed well in this regard - a staple for how this game went.
Isaiah rotated out of goal, took the captains armband from Alfie who came off and through yet another Charlie Sykes pass was released, powered on and buried the ball into the bottom corner to make it 3-0 with undoubtedly the finish of the match. However one of the best moves of the match was some inspired dribbling from Henry Charles who took he ball round 3 players with the shot unfortunately going wide. 2nd half we saw this again where Henry crossed from the right having beaten two players and shot from Charlie was blocked heroically by the Moorside defender.
As the second half started the game swung from one side to the other with Beechy having to dig in a bit with George Omoregie defending exceptionally with Ralph being busy pressing up the field - however the pressure started to show as a hand ball was awarded to Moorside. However, with 2 assists in the first half outfield.. now in goal Charlie continued to assist the team by producing a magical save to his left to from a powerful strike from the Moorside player.
Despite being so solid in defence a ball over the top broke to moorside who finished past Charlie in goal who had no chance.
This goal sparked Beechy into life with a high press and Charlie pinching it off the defender towards the corner flag to the right of the goal, dribbled it and finished through an acute angle. Quickly after there was a scrummage in the box with Alfie striking a deflected shot off the post being saved on the line by the keeper which came agonisingly close to a 5th with Alfie even starting a celebration..
However, Beechy didn’t have to wait long as a final 5th goal came through a foul on Charlie in the box who picked the ball up and powered it into the top right corner of the net as Beechfield were awarded a penalty.
In the later stages some dark art defending by Alfie and Charlie were required with George’s performance in goal smartly saving 3 shots bound for the back of the net.
Overall a fantastic all round performance from Beechfield Storm.
MOTM
Alfie & George - having had a big emphasis on defence in training both these lads really stepped up making a lot of big tackles, important challenges, with Alfie doing a lot of the dirty work for the team while we saw some excellent goal keeping by George in the final stages.
A special mention also to Charlie who scored 2, assisted 2 and saved a penalty in an eventful game for Beechfield Under 7s top goal scorer!
However the award could have genuinely gone to any of the players today! Well done Beechy and on to Wythenshawe!
