- Looking Back Through The Beechy Archives
Going back in time via the Beechfield United Archives lets see what happened when we read the match details from Saturday & Sunday 18th/19th November 2006.
Beechfield United 2nd Team stretched their impressive Division A unbeaten run in the Lancashire and Cheshire League to eight games following an emphatic 7-2 home win over Hazel Grove. United totally dominated a low-key affair and cruised to victory thanks to goals by Martin Blackshaw (4) Anthony Weall (2) and Ben Hyland. The three points gained kept Beechy in fourth place in the table.
There was real disappointment for the 3rd Team who produced a lacklustre display that resulted in a 3-2 defeat against Old Ashtonians. Goalscorers for United in this Division D fixture were Philip Arnold and Frank Parker who shared the Man of the Match Award with keeper Steve Grimes.
The 4th Team remained as Division E leaders by one point when goals from Dean Quinn (3) Oliver Dunn and Jack Tierney clinched a narrow 5-4 win over Newton FC.
Beechy Under 16's met Flixton Juniors for the second time in seven days but after last Sunday's easy 4-0 win the United lads gave a poor display and suffered a 2-1 defeat. Matthew McNally got the consolation goal.
Goals by Ben Rothwell, Tim McQueeney, Mike Riorden and Lee Whitworth guaranteed a comfortable 4-2 home victory for the Under 15's over Ringley Park Rangers.
In the Bolton Boys and Girls Federation the Under 14's kept their unbeaten record intact thanks to a 6-3 home win against Tottington Juniors. Man of the Match Lewis Eyres (4) Andy Wilson and Daniel McLoughlin scored the goals.
Away to Soccer 4 Kids Beechy Under 13's slumped to a heavy defeat in the City of Salford Soccer League.
In a high scoring game at De La Salle the Under 12's grabbed a late winner to take the points with a 5-4 win. The goals came via Jordan Broome (3) Jason Wood and Daniel Rigby.
Despite not playing to their full potential the Under 11's eased their way to a 7-4 home victory over Swinton Lions. Lee Dalby (2) Ashley Sykes (2) Harry Dolan, Sam Newton and Mason Shields fired in the goals.
The Under 11's 9v9 team went down 3-1 at home to Urmston Meadowside Kestrels. Nathan Hamer netted United's only goal while Daniel Melody was voted Best Player.
Goals from Shaun Ferguson and Calvin Broadie earned the Under 10's Storm a score draw with Swinton Junior Lions.
Player of the Match Ellen Sides produced a superb performance for the Under 10's Tornadoes who suffered defeat against Langworthy Juniors. Also ending up on the losing side were the Under 9's Storm who were in action away at Swinton FC.
The Under 9's Tornadoes team spirit and attitude was excellent in their match with neighbours Moorside Rangers Green. William Holliday was voted Man of the Match.
Alex Hanley and Louis Holt scored goals for the Under 8's Storm who secured a deserved victory following a hard fought game with Barr Hill Diamonds.
At home to De La Salle the Under 8's Tornadoes produced a below-par display and eventually lost the match. Lewis Massey was on target with a consolation goal for Beechy.
Some terrific football by the in-form Under 8's Hurricanes help set-up a convincing home win over Swinton Juniors. George Ogden, Mason P.Williams and Cameron Brizland scored the goals.
United's Under 7's Storm enjoyed a comfortable victory at Swinton Juniors thanks to goals from Jack Davies and Alfie Belcher. Joe Ackerman fired in an equaliser for the Under 7's Tornadoes in their home game with Middleton Boys but unfortunately Beechy lost the match.
