- Junior Section Match Details 25/11/2023
Headline Makers on Saturday 25th November 2023 were Beechfield United Under 13's Storm who won their sixth successive game in the Salford and Districts Junior League.
*The Under 13's STORM who are top of the Division 2 table were away at Winton Wanderers Rhinos and secured the three points with a 7-3 victory. During the first half Beechy lost control of the ball too much and the forwards needed to do more work. Storm couldn't find their rhythm and went in at half time sharing a 1-1 scoreline. Both things were put right in the second half and Storm who found their passing game they are capable of were comfortable winners. Beechy's goalscorers were Man of the Match Roman Sandaji (Hat-Trick) Timothy Badewa (2 Goals) Harry Wallis and Ethehapoor Mohaamadmtin.
*The Under 8's THUNDER eased their way to victory in the Red Group away game against AFC Monton Eagles and the first ten minutes was almost played in and around Monton's penalty area. Beechy's front three of Jude Bond, Harrison Spencer and George Kelly either narrowly missed chances or their efforts were saved by the Monton keeper who had an excellent game. The breakthrough finally came for Thunder when the hosts keeper save a shot by George but Harrison was in the right place and scored from the rebound. Within sixty seconds Beechy went two goals up after Harrison made a surging run with the ball into the area before finding the far corner of the net. The second half produced a more even game with both teams having chances the most notable one for Beechy when a shot by Chase Sixsmith just missed the target. Harrison Spencer was unlucky not to get the Man of the Match award but Grayson Owen played well in defence in the first half then taking on the role of goalkeeper in the second made a couple of outstanding flying saves.
*The Under 9's STORM versus Moorside Rangers Blue Red Group game started with Beechy having most of the ball but not creating much plus they were over complicating their play especially taking too many touches on the ball. Against the run of play midway through the second half following a rare goalkeeping error Rangers had a half chance and took the lead. The Beechy players looked frustrated and dejected but a change of formation gave them some positive encouragement. A goal for Storm almost from the restart saw Rangers heads drop and as Beechy grew in confidence they responded with four goals without reply thanks to some fantastic football. What seemed to be one of those days ended with Storm producing one of their best team performances of the season so far. On target with the goals for Beechy were Bobby Lowe, Seth Barber and Man of the Match Harry Chambers who's performance was excellent following some great attacking play from defence and two great goals. Goalkeeper George Savage also impressed and is growing in confidence all of the time.
*For the second time in seven days the Under 10's STORM met Old Trafford Juniors and Beechy were looking for a quick winning double. Starting the game really strong Storm who attempted to play good football in the tough conditions took the lead. Following a well worked corner Jack Sinclair beat his marker out wide and delivered a top-class cross for Kobe Glass to score from close range. Storm continued to create chances and looking relatively solid in defence held their one goal advantage at half time. After the break Beechy pressed hard as they produced some lovely football but Old Trafford grew into the game and equalised from a wickedly deflected goal which gave Storm's keeper no chance with. Refusing to give up Beechy battled on and regained the lead through Harvey King who overpowered an Old Trafford player before hammering the ball across the goalmouth which evaded everyone before nestling in the top corner of the net and describing the goal Harvey said it was definately a shot not a cross. Old Trafford became a bit more open with their play and as the visitors pushed to get back level the game became an end to end slugfest. The visitors got their second equaliser when the ball broke free to an Old Trafford midfield player who blasted a shot which resulted in the ball deflecting and looping over Storm's keeper. This was a game Storm should probably have won but the were extremely unlucky to concede two deflected goals following one of their best performances which was focused on some great defending and build up play going forward. A top-class all-round display from Max Schofield earned him the Man of the Match award.
*Beechy Under 10's LIGHTNING earned themselves a great result with victory over Winton Wanderers Spiders. In this Green Group away fixture Lightning started well and though they created loads of chances conceded the opening goal. Beechy heads didn't drop and they quickly equalised when Austin Fillingham fired home from a long range effort and soon after Kayson Gregg gave Lightning the lead with a fine finish from the edge of the area and though more chances were created Beechy couldn't add to their tally before half time. In the second half Winton got back level so Lightning's players knew the next goal would be very important and Beechy got that goal when Michael Schofield made a powerful run and slotted the ball via a well placed shot into the bottom corner of the net. Lightning produced some solid defending to keep Winton at arms length and the icing on the cake was another great goal by Kayson Gregg that completed the scoring. Beechy Manager James Fillingham praided the players for a great team performance.
*For their away game against Baguley Athletic the Under 12's THUNDER (9v9) had a few players missing but that didn't stop the others stepping uo in their absence. Sonny Farrell with a Roy Keane type midfield role got the team going early winning the ball and his pass found Jacob McGoff who set-up Ajab Fakeeh for 1-0. Baguley then woke from their slumbers and playing some neat football themselves equalised with a well worked goal. But this didn't deter Beechy who created some strong attacking down both wings and during another move Maddox Taylor's pass picked out Jacob McGoff and he restored Thunder's lead. Two goals quickly became three after Jacob ran through the Baguley defence with ease then rounded the keeper before slotting the ball into the empty net. Jacob then got his second hat-trick in as many games when he made it 4-1 after being set-up by Kristian Georgiev then Thunder led 5-1 through Ajab Fakeeh who got his second goal of the game following a tremendous effort. Due to the cold temperature Beechy's coach was mindful to frequently rotate team positions and in the second half Ajab took over as goalkeeper and was unlucky to concede twice when Baguley Athletic made it 5-3. An own goal goal by a Baguley defender gifted Thunder goal number six and the game looked closer than it was when the hosts scored again until a screamer by Samuel Sulmataj from the edge of the area put Beechy 7-4 up. Ajab reverted back to his outfield role to complete his hat-trick and Thunder's scoring before Baguley added their fifth goal. Thunder could and maybe should have scored another six or seven goals.
*Producing their best performance so far this season were Beechy Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) who were away to Wythenshawe Celtic Lions and with some of their opponents looking slightly older it looked to be a tough task for the Tornadoes. Against the big team Beechy realised Wythenshawe would use their physical advantage and and the Tornadoes male and female players did well as they tried to play proper football. One unsavoury remark from the Lions Manager was directed at Beechy's two girls when he said to his players "if they want football with the boys then smash into them" Despite being 2-0 down at half time the Tornadoes showed real endeavour in the second half and putting pressure on the Lions pulled a goal back through Poppy Johnstone. Another sour incident occured when one of Beechy's players was attacked after making a challenge and the offending Wythenshawe players was shown a red card. The Wythenshawe keeper should also have been sent off but only received a caution for a horror tackle on Abdel Malik. Wythenshawe scored again to win the game 3-1 but Beechy's players were amazing considering most of them are new to football this season.
*There was a second successive Division 2 away win in the Salford and Districts Junior League for the Under 14's TORNADOES. Against Winton Spartans this was a cracking display from the Beechy Boys who opened the scoring with a goal from Oscar Mather while Radwan Fakeeh followed up with a brace. On an absolute pudding of a pitch the Tornadoes produced their best performance of the season so far and a 3-2 winning scoreline dosen't do the game justice.
