POSTED: November 29 2018 19:49:17. By Keith Long - 1st Team Make It Four Wins On The Bounce

On Saturday 24th November at Salford Sports Village Beechfield United 1st Team made it four wins on the bounce following a 3-1 victory over Bolton County. In the Manchester Football League all the goals came in the first half and United made a dream start to this Premier Division fixture when they took the lead after only four minutes. Jordan Jones-Waite forced a corner off a County player and Jamie Sinnott's flag kick was met by defender Marcus Belcher who's bullet-like header flew into the top of the net. County were soon looking for a quick equaliser and when the visitors built a couple of fast attacks Beechy keeper Robert Harrison was called into action. Louis Duff sent a header over the crossbar after a swift counter-attack involving Jordan Jones-Waite and Jamie Sinnott. A fingertip save by Robert Harrison and two excellent headed clearances by Luke Johnston denied County further chances to get back on level terms. In midfield Mike Phythian, Ethan Birds and Chris Ferris gradually adapted to the pace of the game as Beechy worked hard in all areas of the pitch.

Two tight offside decisions against County's No9 ruined more fast attacking play by the visitors who moved the ball with speed from back to front. A few surging runs down the right flank by Bolton County's No17 who delivered some accurate curling crosses almost brought his team a goal but Marcus Belcher, Chris Ferris and Jordan Jones-Waite rescued Beechy with superb defensive headers. A few worthwhile moves from United were ended by a linesman's raised flag as County continued to rely on a risky offside tactic. The visitors equalised just before the half hour mark despite their centre forward looking to be in an offside position when he received the ball and overall play continued to rather scrappy leading up to the half time whistle. Straight from the restart County should have added a second goal when their No9 with only Robert Harrison to beat fired the ball into the hands of the Beechy keeper and thirty seconds later United went 2-1 up.

Jordan Jones-Waite supplied a perfectly weighted pass onto Jamie Sinnott who easily went past a County defender and United's No9 curled the ball to the back of the area and arriving at the back post was Louis Duff who from almost on the goal line scored his third goal in as many games. A couple of minutes later the Bolton County keeper misjudged an effort from Jamie Sinnott but somehow managed to grab the ball after it rebounded off the post. Goal number three for Beechy after fifty minutes was created by a magnificent defence splitting pass by Ethan Birds that sent Jordan Jones-Waite on a clear run and he sent the ball high into the area and after the County keeper dropped the ball Jamie Sinnott was left with an easy close range finish. But United's two goal advantage was soon under threat as Bolton County stepped up the tempo via some really strong attacking soccer.

Suddenly Beechy's back four Man of the Match Mike Rogerson, Marcus Belcher, Luke Johnston and Carl Ravenscroft were forced to produce some serious defending. The pace of the game had certainly been raised a level and a few of United's players were victim of some late robust tackles. United needed to remain focused and another accurate long pass from Ethan Birds was controlled by Jordan Jones-Waite who's first time half-volley from about eighteen yards flashed just wide of the target. County's No11 was their key player as the visitors maintained a constant flow of powerful attacks but Beechy's defensive quartet remained superbly well organised and keeper Robert Harrison rarely had to make any crucial saves. United still created a few decent chances during the latter stages but it was Bolton County who came closest to another goal when their No8's effort hit the crossbar and the visitors No15 side footed the rebound over the crossbar.
