- 1-1 Draw Was A Fair Result
Following a game of two halves Beechfield United Saturday Morning Senior Team earned themselves a respectable 1-1 draw with AFC Middleton. At Salford Sports Village Beechy made a dream start in this Division 1 fixture when they took the lead in the fourth minute. During a neat move through the midfield Ben Donahue supplied a superbly weighted pass that left Max Leonard one-on-one with the keeper and United's main striker managed to get to the ball first and slot it into the net. But despite dominating the first half Beechy were unable to increase their lead though one effort hit the post.
Beechy keeper Dan Lee plus his opposite number both made a couple of brilliant saves during the match. AFC Middleton equalised after seventy seven minutes when United were punished for some slack defending following a corner that allowed a visitors forward positioned at the front post the easy task of glancing a header home much to Beechy's dismay. United Manager Graham Rothwell said after the game that a draw was a fair result. The Man of the Match Award was shared by Gareth Burns and Matthew Swift.
