- Junior Section Match Details 28th/29th Sept 2024
*It's Congratulations to Beechy Under 11's Lightning (9v9) who won their first game of the season in the Manchester Youth Soccer League.
**Playing against Football Coaching Raiders this was a much needed confidence boost for the Under 11's LIGHTNING. Working hard all over the pitch Beechy started well and took the lead through Kayson Gregg who stepped out of defence and with a long range effort fired the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Lightning created lots of chances in the first half but couldn't add to their tally and were still one goal ahead at half time. In the second half Beechy continued to control the game and were rewarded with their second goal thanks to some great build up play and a neat finish from ten yards by Oliver Simpson. Lightning conceded a late penalty but the result was never in doubt and after the game Beechy Manager James Fillingham said he was proud of the players for their effort and attitude. Man of the Match was Kayson Gregg who led by example and tackled everything that moved.
*Producing a stunning all-round performance were the Under 10's STORM who met local rivals Moorside Rangers Yellow away. In this Red Group it's the first time ever that every outfield player has contributed to either a goal or an assist. Seth Barber, Alfie Heighway, Bobby Lowe, Jacob Foster and Isaac Hargreaves scored the goals as Storm made it four win in a row. Assists for the goals came via Kade Doyle, Alfie Heighway, Oscar Pugh, Oscar Berry and Harry Heathcote-Clare.
*At home to Ashton on Mersey the Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) also secured their fourth successive victory in the Salford and Districts League and retain top spot in Division 1. Beechy made a slow start in the game and shared a 1-1 scoreline at half time but as they continued to play some great football at time the Tornadoes eventually secured a 6-1 victory. What Manager Ryan Pugh liked most about his teams performance was there were six different goalscorers Kian Murphy, Zach MacKinnon, Luke Bennett, Lynott Cassidy, Archie Charles and Max Blood plus six different assists by Max, Kian, Luke, Lucio Riva, Tyler Ackernley and Ralph Phillips.
*Beechy Under 9's THUNDER were away to Flixton Juniors Athletic the team that beat Thunder in last seasons Challenge Cup final. This Red Group fixture proved to be a feisty encounter and during the first half Beechy played some of their best football seen so far this season. Thunder defended superbly and playing through the midfield were very unlucky to share a goalless scoreline after missing some good chances. Flixton Juniors took the lead after half time and from that moment the equivalent of the kitchen sink was thrown at the hosts. Unbelievably Thunder saw efforts hit the woodwork on six different occasions before they conceded a penalty in the final few seconds. Despite the defeat Beechy Manager Chris Kelly said he couldn't be happier with his teams display and anyone could have staked a claim for Player of the Match. Both Tiffany Kandemiri and Archie Heighway had great games showing that Thunder have made some really strong additions to the team. Player of the Match was shared between Grayson Owen and George Kelly who have formed a formidable back two at the base of the team.
*Without a league fixture in the Salford and Districts Junior League were the Under 15's TORNADOES who arranged a friendly match with neighbours Moorside Rangers Blue. Beechy from Division 2 faced their Division 1 opponents at home without their regular goalkeeper and in a keenly contested eighty minutes the Tornadoes more than matched Rangers and were unfortunate to suffer a 3-2 defeat. On target for Beechy were Josh Beddows and Jayden Hoye.
*In what has become an infuriating pattern Beechy Under 17's HURRICANES started slow and lethargic in their Bolton Bury and District League home game with Ramsbottom Juniors and the Beechy Boys need to realise that because they are unbeaten every team wants to end that run. Following a defensive lapse the Hurricanes found themselves a goal down but weaving his magic Karo Ibodje scored Beechy's equaliser. Another error gifted Ramsbottom the lead again though from his position the referee was initially going to blow for offside and though the Hurricanes players waited for the whistle the goal was awarded. In the second half Beechy stepped up a gear and following some neat play Karo was on target again as he completed his brace. Ramsbottom Juniors grabbed the lead again then a free kick for the Hurricanes was swung into the back post was met by a rare Kane Wood header and Beechy were back on level terms then Karo completed his hat-trick when he outmuscled the visitors centre half to put the Hurricanes 4-3 up. Beechy managed to hold off the opposition until an unfortunate own goal made it 4-4 and that's how his Section B game finished. Man of the Match was Karo Ibodje but a special mention goes to Paul Connelly who held his own in an unfamiliar position as he covered well at right back mopping up behind the centre backs.
