Salford and District Junior League U/9's Yellow Group

Beechy U/9's STORM headed to Monton for their 4th away match on the bounce. Feeling confident after their last outing the boys set about the task at hand well. Passing and moving from the first whistle looking to breakdown the Monton defence. However a long clearance saw Monton’s star player collect the ball on the edge of the Beechfield area with the defence undone by the pass the Monton player was able to slot the ball home with precision. The team rallied and pushed for an equaliser with some great play down the wings. Moments later a Monton corner took a few lucky bounces through the defence and fell perfectly for their striker who powered home from close range. Frustrating!

This sprung the boys into action, for the next five minutes it was all out attack. Which was rewarded when Lucas King powered down the Monton wing and smashed a long range effort past the Monton keeper. Some back and forth play followed with both sides creating multiple chances. Once again Monton found themselves through on goal and a powerful shot to the top corner put them back on top.

The half time team talk focused on sticking to the passing and moving the boys had been doing since the first whistle and not getting distracted by the at times frustrated opposition. The second half began same as the first the boys passing and moving trying to find a way to unlock the opposition defence. Monton steadied themselves after a barrage of attacks from Beechfield and began to find their attacking feet. They created multiple chances and some fantastic Beechfield defending was harshly rewarded with a handball call and a penalty. Monton dispatched the penalty with power for their fourth goal.

Despite not getting the reward for their hard work and dedication to playing a passing game the team rallied again and finally broke the Monton defence for a second time. A looping shot from Charlie Schofield meant the final 5 mins would be interesting.

In a desperate attempt to find another two goals the team pushed forward. Some smart passing from Monton allowed them to break through the now high defensive Beechfield line and finish the game off.

The score may not have reflected it but there were plenty for the boys to be proud of! They fought hard until the final whistle, created some great chances and continued their passing game development from previous weeks. Onto the next game.
