- Junior Section Match Details 30/9/2023
There were several first-class team performances in the Junior Section including the Under 16's HURRICANES amazing 6-4 victory over last seasons league and cup winners Davyhulme Park.
*In the Section C home game the Hurricanes made a bright start and their football littered with style and structure was a joy to watch. Beechy soon found themselves leading 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Brandon Cini but suddenly the Hurricanes lost their shape and after Davyhulme Park got back in the game the visitors were 3-2 up at half time. A few stern words at half time remined the Beechy players of their ability and quickly reverting to playing the type of football they produced in the first half the Hurricanes stepped up a gear. Two long range shots from Bradley West saw Beechy regain the lead then not to be outdone Alfie Gridlestone score the Hurricanes fifth goal with his own shot from distance. Kane Wood got in on the act when he made it 6-3 before Davyhulme completed the scoring from the penalty spot. Brandon Cini and Bradley West shared the Hurricanes Man of the Match award.
*The Under 15's HURRICANES were in Salford and Districs League action on Saturday morning with an away game at Kingsway Athletic who were joint top of the table prior to kick-off. Beechy who had almost a full squad available were worthy 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Owen Hogben and Henry Errington. Hurricanes Star Player was their goalkeeper Max Gill-Williams.
*At home to Signol Athletic Yellow the Under 14's TORNADOES were 5-0 down with twenty minutes left to play in this Division 2 fixture. But the Beechy Boys suddenly clicked into gear and had a brief chance of a comeback with goals by Oscar Mather and a beauty from Jayden Hoye. Result Tornadoes 2 v Signol 5.
*Playing away at Salford Storm Tornadoes the Under 12's THUNDER (9v9) faced a team who had won the previous game between the teams 6-1. After a pre-match team talk Thunder came out of the starting blocks and quickly put pressure on their opponents. Both teams had a couple of early chances until midway in the first half Salford Storm took a 1-0 lead then shortly after the hosts added a second goal and Beechy feared that all their good football would be wasted. But Thunder's players had other ideas and following more quality soccer Beechy reduced the arrears when the ball fell to Roman Jackson-Williams who hammered it into the top corner of the net from twenty five yards. At the end of another attack down the left wing Thunder won a penalty and remaining the calmest boy on the pitch Mohammed Edris took the spot-kick and made it 2-2. Beechy remained the better team in the second half though it was Salford Storm who got the next goal to lead again but keeping their heads held high Thunder responded and from a corner Samuel Sulmataj made it 3-3. A Salford Storm player missed a penalty in the last five minutes and despite their efforts neither side could find a match winning goal. This was a cracking 3-3 draw between two good teams who both showed their qualities throughout the sixty minutes. Everyone on the Beechy team including their female player Brooke Anderson-Rough played their part.
*Also faced with a away fixture were the Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) who met Urmston Town Tigers. Once again Beechy fell foul of the seeding system because it was clear that the Tornadoes opponents who have moved from the Timperley league have been placed in the wrong section in the SDJFL. Full credit to all the Beechy Boys who battled throughout this game but it was Urmston who were the winners.
*In the Under 11's Red Group Beechy TORNADOES met Salford Storm Thunderbolts knowing it would be a difficult game against their good all-round opponents. The Tornadoes battled well as they passed the ball with confidence but it was Salford Storm who took the lead at the mid-point in the first half but this didn't deter the Tornadoes as they produced a fantastic effort. Goalkeeper Harvey Pugh was outstanding as he made several brilliant saves while Man of the Match Ralph Phillips scored on his debut and Luke Bennett helped himself to a couple of goals.
*From start to finish Beechy Under 10's TORNADOES were involved in a tough match away at Baguley Athletic and it was the hosts who took the lead within the first five minutes as they dominated most of the early stages. The Tornadoes produced a positive response and equalised when Eshan Shanahan broke through the Baguley defence to level the score but Baguley regained the lead just before half time. After the break Beechy rallied and worked hard but it was a case of sometimes you have to give the opposition credit. Baguley were winners of this SDJFL Green Group encounter after the hosts scored another four goals. It was really pleasing to see the Tornadoes players attitude and determination to carry on right up to the final whistle.
*In their home game against Boothstown Devils the Under 10's STORM started slowly and were under pressure for the first ten minutes during which Boothstown took a deserved lead. Going behind forced an immediate reaction from Beechy's outfield players who started to move the ball around like they have been doing so far this season. Storm's pressure was rewarded when a great through ball from midfield found Austin Pierce who's pace took him past a Boothstown defender before he cooly added a decisive finish. Beechy continued to attack and during another excellent passing move the ball broke to Austin Pierce and he made no mistake as he hammered the ball home to give Storm the lead. During a rare attack the visitors forced a corner and aided by a slice of luck Boothstown equalised when the ball ended up in the back of the Beechy net. Storm's heads didn't go down and quickly finding their rhythm again Beechy won a free kick and up stepped Jack Sinclair who did what he always does best hitting the target and finding the top of the net to put Storm back in front at half time. Beechy were fired up in the second half and very much on the front foot created at least three good chances and Austin Pierce was denied his hat-trick following a great save from the Boothstown keeper. Storm's goalkeeper Jayden Royle had another great game, commanding his area and making two excellent saves to help maintain Beechy's lead. Man of the Match was Austin Pierce but this was a top-class all-round display from the Beechy Boys.
*Rewarded for a strong performance and a good result were Beechy Under 9's THUNDER who were in action at home against Stretford Victoria Albion. Producing a real team effort Thunder who dominated this Salford and Districts Junior League Yellow Group game played some of their best football seen so far this season. Goalscorers for Beechy in a comfortable victory were Harley Cosgrove-Newby (hat-trick) Hugo Balogun, Deo Waiwai, Sonny Phillips, Cody Elwell-Eyres and Lyle Glass. Storm also kept a clean sheet thanks to their defence who played a strong game. Harley and Hugo shared the Player of the Match award.
*In their Red Group away game with AFC Monton the Under 9's STORM made a good start passing the ball around well as they limited their opponents any real chances. Beechy took an early lead when Bobby Lowe scored following a solo run then Seth Barber added Storm's second goal after a nice turn and finish on the edge of the area. Kade Doyle was on target with a composed finish to give Beechy a comfortable three goal advantage. Monton created a couple of good chances but Storm's goalkeeper George Savage responed with some fantastic saves to help maintain Beechy's three goal lead at half time. Despite loosening their grip on the game Storm still carved out some decent chances but Beechy lacked the energy they displayed in the first half. Bobby Lowe netted Storm's fourth goal midway through the second half and Monton scored a consolation goal late in the game. Overall this was a good performance from the Beechy Boys. Seth Barber was named Man of the Match.
*Whenever the Under 8's THUNDER and Urmston Town Leopards have met previously it has always been a high scoring and frentic game and this was proved again especially in the first half. In this away game Beechy made a great start when Chase Sixsmith and Harrison Spencer put Thunder with a goal apiece. Urmston Town reduced the arrears before Beechy opened up a commanding lead with another goal from Chase Sixsmith plus a finsh by Oscar Spencer. The hosts scored again but Thunder guaranteed their victory with four unanswered goals before half time when Chase and Harrison completed their hat-trick's while Oscar netted his second goal of the game. The second half power play rule levelled things up and though Urmston added two more goals Beechy replied with two great strikes from Grayson Owen. Man of the Match was Chase Sixsmith.
*Beechy Under 8's STORM welcomed JBAS Ajax for their first home game of the season. Straight from the kick off it was obvious that Ajax were comfortable on the ball and had no quarms of shooting from anywhere outside the area and the visitors managed to open the scoring. Storm had a couple of creative opportunities during the first half quarter and eventually Beechy got a fully deserved equaliser via Charlie Schofield who was making his debut. Pressing high up the pitch Ajax regained the lead with a shot from distance that saw the ball evaded the Beechy keepers reach. Charlie, Sonny Cox and Jacob McLoughlin found gaps in the midfield but Ajax were quick to close down Beechy's overall link-up play. At half time Ajax held a four goal lead and when power play was active in the second half great defending by Sonny, Corey Davies and Alfie Garner restricted the visitors scoring chances. But Ajax found a way to score again and Storm's goalkeeper Rocky Linehan who dealt with shots from every angle produced several important heroic saves. When Beechy made more tactical changes both Jacob and Jude Aimson displayed their skill on the ball with good runs down the wings. Calvin Hunter came more into the game as he created opportunities via his pace and he won a free kick after ghosting past two Ajax players. Congratulations to Storm's coaches and Man of the Match Charlie Schofield. On Saturday 7th October 2023 Storm are at home again when they meet neighbours Moorside Rangers in the Challenge Tournament.
*After a disappointing result seven days earlier the Under 7's STORM responded with a great performance against Parkwyddn Phoenix. Playing some good football Beechy who have so far this season found their goalscoring ability lacked the finishing touch and went a goal down. Through a lot of hard work and pressure the team led by the excellent Ralph Cassidy got back level when George Omoregie displayed his Lionel Messi skills to go past three opponents before burying the ball into the bottom corner of the net. The second half which started very much like the first featured more great Beechy attacks but again Storm missed their chances. Parkwyddn scored from only two shots on target but as previously witnessed from this group of players Beechy bounced back and with Isiah Austins, Henry Charles and Charlie Sykes leading the charge it was the latter who netted two goals to level the score, one goal came following quick thinking by Charlie after an Isiah throw-in. Man of the Match was George who was immense in the first half via some powerful runs plus great defending capped off with a fantastic goal.
