- Reece Hits Five in Under 17's 6-1 Victory
In the Bolton Bury and District League Reece James grabbed the Headlines with five goals as Beechfield United Under 17's enjoyed a 6-1 away victory over Flixton Junior Cougars. 30/9/2023.
*The Under 17's made it three Section B wins on the trot but during periods of the game Beechy had to work hard before they secured the win. Reece James netted a quick fire double in the opening ten minutes to put Beechy in control when he added the finish to a great pass from Ryan Law then Reece made it 2-0 after receiving a quality pass from Joseph Bothamley. The game settled down and when Flixton had chances to reduce the arrears Beechy keeper Peter Ellis responded with some smart saves before Reece James completed his hat-trick via another clinical finish and a 3-0 lead at half time was no more than Beechy deserved. Flixton made a positive start in the second and the hosts when close to a goal when a fine effort struck the crossbar and this forced Beechy to step up a level.
Hitting Flixton on the counter-attack Beechy made it 4-0 as Reece James fired home his fourth goal thanks to a tidy assist from Ronan Mullen. Without warning Beechy stopped doing the basics which allowed Flixton the chance to dominate the contest. Peter Ellis made a brilliant save but he was beaten when the hosts reduced the arrears after slack Beechy defending following a corner. During the next twenty minutes Beechy were under pressure as Flixton dominated the game and briefly tempers boiled over. But with nine minutes to go Reece James collected a pass from Ryan Law and produced his goalscoring touch again when he put Beechy 5-1 up then shortly after Reece repaid the compliment setting up Ryan who completed the scoring.
