- Junior Section Match Details 2/10/2021
Several days of heavy rain forced the postponement of numerous games in the Junior Section but five teams were in action on Saturday 2nd October 2021.
After their home pitch had been deemed unplayable Beechfield United Under 16's Storm switched their Bolton Bury and District League Section C fixture with Whelley Alexandra to their opponents ground. The decision to play away proved to be the right choice because following a great all-round team performance Beechy were rewarded with a 5-2 victory. Despite the tricky underfoot conditions Storm moved the ball quick and accurate and as the midfield dictated play Aaron Cardall ghosted in at the far post to give Beechy the lead. Evan Hodson-Griffiths put Storm 2-0 up when he finished off another good move before Whelley Alexandra got a goal back following a free kick. In the second half Beechy controlled the game but via a breakaway move Whelley Alexandra made it 2-2. Pouncing onto a loose back pass was Luka Ottiwell and he put Storm back in the lead then Luka was on target again after he raced clear and added Beechy's fourth goal. Aaron Cardall scored his second goal when the Whelley keeper palmed the ball to him and Aaron slotted it into the corner of the net to complete the scoring. Storm's Man of the Match was Alfie Jones. Result Beechy 5 v Whelley Alexandra 2.
In their Section D away game at Culcheth Athletic the Under 16's Tornadoes trailed 4-0 following a poor first half in which Beechy struggled to put enough decent moves together. But the Tornadoes played much better after the break and creating more goalscoring opportunities managed to reduce the arrears but Culcheth Athletic added another goal to claim the three points via a 5-2 victory. Roman Hoy was on target with both goals for Beechy.
The Under 15's Typhoon remained as leaders of Section D for another week after a hard fought 3-2 away win over Swinton Cobras. Despite being the better team Typhoon missed two chances in the opening two minutes and suddenly found themselves 2-0 down. In recent BBDFL games Typhoon who have been losing at some point have always shown resiliance to fight back and a goal by Sonny O'Brien restored Beechy's belief and confidence before half time. As they dominated the second half Typhoon were rewarded with the lead when both Ronan Mullen and Will Bentham were on target. There were some anxious moments for Beechy as Swinton Cobras attempted to grab an equalising goal but Typhoon held firm and wrapped up the three vital points. Reece James was Man of the Match for an excellent midfield display.
Away to Monton Sports for their latest 9v9 Division 2 fixture Beechy Under 12's Tornadoes lost a close fought game 2-1. In the Salford and Districts League Stewart Kay netted Tornadoes consolation goal and Beechy keeper Jack Lee was voted Man of the Match.
Beechy Under 10's Storm lost for the first time this season after their 7v7 encounter with Swinton Jaguars. In total contrast to the previous three weeks and against opposition Beechy had beaten easily recently Storm endured a tough Saturday morning. Beechy somehow let the cold weather conditions get the better of them and the teams performance was below par. The normal accurate passing, movement and solid defending was missing and given far too much time and space Swinton Jaguars took advantage. The only highlight for Storm was a well worked consolation goal scored by Aiden Gradwell after a one-two with Oliver Cooper.
