- Junior Section Match Details 14/10/2023
A spell of wet weather forced several games to be postponed and though three teams had no fixture the remaining games in the Junior Section produced some winning results.
*After being held to a draw in their last game Beechy Under 7's STORM bounced back and created one of their best performances so far this season. Storm were playing away at Swinton Tigers and via a tidy finish it was the hosts who took the lead. Beechy quickly responded and struck back with several attempts on target from James Jackson who's rocket shot hit the post while both Alfie Robinson and Henry Charles went close to scoring. In the 10th minute Storm equalised through Henry Charles who found space to put the ball in the back of the net following a corner taken by James Jackson. Storm introduced substitutes Charlie Sykes, Isaiah Austins and George Omoregie and the trio help Beechy take control of the game with Charlie helping himself to a couple of goals. Bryce Carroll who was Storm's goalkeeper in the first half got the opportunity to play outfield and help stretch the game. James who showed real dertmination was clearly fuming that he hadn't scored earlier got two goals with excellent finishes along with Charlie, Henry and Alfie. The best moves Beechy created involved Isaiah who assisted in a number of these thanks to some great passes, movement and throw-ins. One of the goals showed Storm's major qualities when Ralph Cassidy got back to win possession with a great tackle then Henry bombed forward before playing a fantastic ball onto Alfie who controlled it well and fired it into the net off the post. Man of the Match was James Jackson for his relentless effort in both attack and defence plus creating good space on the pitch for his teammates.
*A win following their home game against Urmston Town Leopards for the Under 8's THUNDER put Beechy into a winner takes all situation next Saturday in the Challenge Cup. In this tie Thunder got off to the best possible start when after just seconds George Kelly received the ball and fired it into the top corner of the net. Beechy always looked comfortable in the game and the team created chance after chance without finding a goalscoring finish. But finally towards the end of the first half Jude Bond broke free to score Thunder's second goal before Antonio Embalo added goal number three. The second half belonged to Chase Sixsmith who hit his first goal of the tie after closing down the visitors goalkeeper before Urmston got their consolation goal. Chase was then on target again with two goals to complete his well deserved hat-trick. Storm's Man of the Match was Antonio Embalo who ran his heart out as he showed really good skill throughout the game.
*The pitch was fine and it was a perfect morning for football when Beechy Under 9's STORM played Ordsall Park Juniors in the Challenge Cup. This was Storm's second game in the competition and the Beechy Boys who were full of confidence started brightly in the tie passing the ball around really well. Bobby Lowe gave Storm the lead sotting the ball home from the edge of the area and Beechy increased their lead via Seth Barber who produced a mazy run before adding a fine finish. Against the run of play Ordsall Park reduced the arrears but Storm hit back before half time with a third goal from Alfie Heighway. Shortly after the restart Kade Doyle was on target when he netted goal number four then a nice shot from inside the area by Oscar Pugh resulted in Storm's fifth goal. Beechy kept the ball really well and their sixth goal which completed the scoring was an excellent all-round team move finished off by Man of the Match Bobby Lowe.
*The in-form Under 9's THUNDER were involved in an exciting Challege Cup game away at Salford United Juniors. The teams were evenly matched and despite an end to end contest including lots of chances there were no goals in normal time. The teams took penalties to decide the winner and during the shoot-out Beechy's goalkeeper and Man of the Match Michael Omeregie made three amazing saves to guarantee a Thunder victory and a place in the next round.
*Looking to get back to winning ways after last Saturday's narrow defeat the Under 10's STORM met Moorside Rangers Blue away in the Challenge Cup and the first half was full of high intensity and good football but very few chances. After some great defending from Storm the ball broke kindly for a Rangers striker and he blasted home a great finish to give the hosts the lead. The pattern of play in the second half remained very much the same with more top-class football plus strong but fair tackles from both side and Beechy had chances to equalise plus Storm were denied a blatant penalty for handball. Due to their over commitment to get back in the game Beechy were left lightweight in defence and against the run of play Rangers added their second goal. Storm's players never stopped working hard but they just didn't get a lucky break and after Rangers were awarded a soft free kick the hosts sealed the win via a third goal. Beechy didn't deserve to lose the tie but when the standard his high if you don't take your chances you get punished at the other end. Scott Ellis-Smith was voted Storm's Man of the Match.
*After reversing their Division 4 fixture to their opponents ground Beechy Under 12's THUNDER (9v9) were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline. On a very big and wide pitch Thunder were in action against Wythenshawe Celtic Milan and this made it hard work for the Beechy players. Thunder constantly pinned back their opponents and Beechy's keeper didn't have a save to make while the defence easily dealt with the few counter-attacks created by the hosts. Close to half time Man of the Match Theo McNulty went clear of of the Milan defence and squared the ball to Ajab Fakeeh who finshed the move by firing home from the edge of the area. The second half kicked-off and with virtually their first attack Wythenshawe created a move down the left and their player added a superb finish into the bottom corner of the net for 1-1. Catching Beechy cold again moments later the hosts went 2-1 up following some confusion between Thunder's goalkeeper and defenders. Despite dominating the game again Beechy were unable to find an equaliser and a possible wnning goal but well done to the male and female players for a terrific display and on another day Thunder could have scored five or six goals.
*Following three successive defeats the Under 14's TORNADOES rediscovered the winning formula with a 5-0 home victory over Medlock Rangers. In this Salford and Districts League Division 2 game firing home the goals for the Tornadoes were Oscar Mather and Josh Beddows who netted a brace apiece and Enzo Da Silva.
*Maintaining their recent run of good form and winning results were the Under 16's HURRICANES who faced Horwich St Marys at Littleton Road. Producing a dominant display of flowing football Beechy won this Section C fixture 6-1 and moved up to fourth place in the league table. Starting on the front foot the Hurricanes were camped in their opponents half and a devastating counter-attack saw Ethan Mangwiro cut the ball back from the left wing and Brandon Cini took a touch to control it, another to set himself and a third touch resulted in a fierce shot that left the keeper stranded for 1-0. Following another lightning attack Beechy were rewarded with goal number two via Oghenekaro Ibodje who finished superbly beyond the keeper. But in true Hurricanes fashion complacency struck and Horwich St Marys got a lifeline when the visitors reduced the arrears. The second half saw Man of the Match Tanatswa Chirwa stamp his authority at the back and whatever attacking threat the opposition had to offer was silenced.
Beechy's fast flowing football was soon on display again and Oghenekaro Ibodje raced onto a through pass from Ausou Eltomseneen and put the Hurricanes 3-1 up. Some hard work by Kane Wood was rewarded when he set-up Brandon Cini who completed his brace with the fourth goal then goal number five arrived after Brandon put pressure on the Horwich goalkeeper who conceded an own goal. Beechy were awarded another free kick and Tanatswa stepped forward and from forty yards he struck a beautiful shot at the target that saw the ball cannon of the angle of the goalframe. Beechy's sixth goal that wrapped up the scoring came after Brandon raced down the left flank before cutting the ball back to Ethan Mangwiro who sent it into the path of Alfie Gridlestone and he fired it past a stranded Horwich keeper.
