- U/17's Storm Overcome Negative Tactics
Following their fifth game of the season in the Bolton Bury & District League Beechfield United U/17's Storm hold a five point lead at the top of the Section B table.
*Beechy were away to Daten Kestrals who soon made it obvious that their chosen tactic was to put eleven players behind the ball as soon as they lost possession. Storm struggled to break their opponents down but eventually made the vital breakthrough when Evan Hodson-Griffiths score via a low shot into the bottom corner of the net. Beechy continued to enjoy lots of possession but a lapse of concentration at the back gifted Daten Kestrals an equalising goal. Sam Kemp saw his effort hit the post but Harrison Davies was in the right place to head home the rebound and put Storm 2-1 at half time.
In the second half Daten continued to adopt their boring tactics but Beechy increased their lead when Evan Hodson-Griffiths scored Storm's third goal with a fantastic long range free kick. Another defensive error resulted in Daten reducing the arrears when the hosts pushed more players forward but Beechy hit their opponents on the counter-attack and courtesy of a fine finish Evan Hodson Griffiths made it 4-2 with his hat-trick goal. With five minutes to go Storm were rewarded with their fifth goal when Leo Barrett was on target to complete the scoring. Following a classy midfield performance Ben Delaney was named Man of the Match.
