Beechfield United Sunday Senior Team kicked-off October 2023 in the Manchester Amateur Sunday League looking to create a run of winning results.

*29/10/2023 Beechy were in action at home against Beech Inn and relied on a dominant second half display before winning the game 6-1. Beech Inn who played throughout with ten players lined-up in a defensive mode and continually frustrated United's attempt to take and early lead. Josh Reynolds, Sam Watton-O'Brien, Aaron Keenan and Mikey Moran were all involved in some slick quick passing moves before United eventually took the lead in the 18th minute. Under pressure a Beech Inn defender was guilty of deliberate handball inside the area and from the spot-kick Kai Mitchell sent the keeper the wrong as he opened the scoring. Briefly Beech Inn were reduced to nine players following a slight injury but the visitors still forced some defending from United and Jordan McNuff, Jack Keelan and Ellis Sackfield made vital ball winning tackles. A fine headed attempt by Lewis Culf was just off target prior to United adding their second goal when Josh Reynolds supplied the finish to a pinpoint cross from Kayson Mitchell.

Early in the second half Beech Inn got a goal back against the run of sending United a wake up call. United who quickly responded with a couple of tactical changes stepped up a gear and shots from Man of the Match Mikey Moran, Lewis Culf and Kai Mitchell all flashed narrowly wide of the target. Kai Mitchell put United 3-1 up from a free kick then Aaron Keenan and Kayson Mitchell combined to set-up Lewis Culf for the fourth goal. Beech Inn struggled to deal with United's non-stop pressure and Liam Potter, Kieran Savage and Mikey Moran were constantly involved as United created a powerful attacking surge. With goal number Kai Mitchell completed his hat-trick and Liam Potter wrapped up the scoring inside the last few minutes.

*22/10/2023 Goals by Kai Mitchell (4) Lewis Culf (2) Jack Keelan, Kayson Mitchell, Jake Wilkinson and Sam Watton O'Brien and Liam Potter earned Beechy an emphatic 11-2 away win over King Jonny FC. This victory stretched United's unbeaten run in the Manchester Amateur Sunday League to six Division 2 and cup games. (21/10/2023) Several days later the result was deleted from the Division 2 table after Beechy's opponents resigned from the league.

*On 1st October a solid all-round display secured Beechy's Sunday Senior Team a 3-1 Division 2 home win over Ordsall Athletic. In a fairly evenly balanced first half Liam Potter from a free kick gave United the lead but Ordsall equalised after they were awarded a penalty. Beechy raised their game in the second half and added goal number two when Kai Mitchell supplied a perfectly weighted pass and Lewis Culf restored United's lead. The victory was guaranteed via Liam Potter who was on target again following a penetrating run and decisive finish.

*Beechy needed a late winning goal to earn a narrow 4-3 victory away at Manchester South End on Sunday 8th October. Leading 2-1 at half time United faced a tough second half when the hosts fought back to make it 3-3. But Beechy managed to secure the three points with goals from Jordan McNuff, Kai Mitchell and Sam Porter who scored two goals including the vital match winner.

*In action on Sunday 15th October in the John Old Cup United met Unicorn Athletic in the 1st Round of the competition and won the tie 6-1. A touch of winter weather was in the air when Beechy kicked-off the game and United took an early lead in the 4th minute. An excellent long pass from Kai Mitchell was controlled by his brother Kayson who brought the ball under control before slotting it low past the keeper. Jack Keelan, Mikey Moran and Nixon Crooks saw long range efforts go either wide or saved by the overworked Unicorn keeper as Beechy maintained a solid attacking flow. Unicorn produced a few promising counter-attacks prior to United adding their second goal after Jack, Kai and Liam Potter combined and it was the latter who fired the ball low into the corner of the net. The visitors continued to cause a few problems for Beechy's defenders but Callum Warner, Jake Wilkinson and Jordan McNuff restricted Unicorn to just a few half chances. Mikey Moran was always a busy figure in midfield and he was involved in the move that ended with an effort from Howard Longsden hitting the post. Kai Mitchell put Beechy 3-0 ahead when he linked-up with Liam and darted into the area before drilling the ball low past the keeper. United keeper Ben Sykes-Baines who had a fairly trouble free ninety minutes displayed safe handling and good distribution throughout the game. A superb piece of play by Man of the Match Mikey Moran won Beechy another corner and after the flag kick a cross from Jake Wilkinson created a chance for Kai who's volley flew over the crossbar. A mazy run by Jack Keelan resulted in United adding their fourth goal when Jack's effort hit a Unicorn defender sending the ball into the net. Three minutes before half time Unicorn reduced the arrears when the visitors No10 broke free down the left flank and angled the ball into the net.

Early in the second half Jack, Kayson and substitute Josh Reynolds combined in a slick move which deserved a better finish. Some solid defending from Nixon, Callum and Jordan rarely gave United's opponents the chance of causing an upset. A Quick exchange of passes between Howard and Kai opened up the visitors defence yet again and a first time effort from Josh rattled the post. Beechy's shoot on sight tactic continued when both Jake and Nixon attempted to get themselves amongst the goalscorers. Moving the ball much quicker on the artificial surface United led 5-1 when Kai Mitchell fired the ball home from a cross by Jake then Liam Potter completed the scoring following a superb through ball from Josh. Jacob Lawlor replaced Kayson in his second spell from the bench and once again he was quickly involved in the fast action. At the end of a rare counter-attack Unicorn forced a corner and when the ball was curled into the area the visitors No8 sent a header wide of the target. Beechy continued to create decent chances in the closing stages and Jacob had a header saved by the keeper and Kai set-up Liam who almost got his hat-trick from a half volley.
