There was almost a full programme of fixtures in Beechfield United's Junior Section on Saturday 17th October 2020, there were just two postponements and two teams had no official game.

Back in action in the North Bury Junior League after a four week lay off were Beechfield United Under 16's Storm who were away to Denton Youth Blue. A superb all-round display by the Beechy Boys in this Premiership Division Yellow fixture earned Storm a fully deserved 9-4 victory. Leading the way was Man of the Match Adam Rothwell who produced a real captain's performance and helped himself to two goals. Also on target for Beechy were Dylan Roberts (hat-trick) Prince Idusuyi (2) Joe Newton and Archie Cooper.

Also in the North Bury Junior League the Under 16's Thunder were glad to be back playing following four Saturday's without a game. Against Middleton Athletic Boys at Salford Sports Village Thunder were obviously short of match practice and struggling to find any momentum in this Division 1 home game suffered a heavy defeat. Beechy goalkeeper Reiss Miller who after injuring his hand in the first half played upfront and netted Thunder's consolation goal.

Beechy Under 15's Storm retained their position at the top of the Bolton Bury and League Section C table following a 3-1 away win over FC Bury Athletic. Extending their unbeaten run to five games Storm quickly took control against FC Bury with both Harry Patterson and Abraham Abiola Joel going close to scoring the opening goal. FC Bury struggled to get a foothold in the game due to a combination of Jude Bedforth, Leo Barrett and Abraham Abiola Joel controlling the midfield area. It was Leo who put Beechy 1-0 up then another good move opened up FC Bury's defence again and Abraham rounded the keeper before tapping the ball into the empty net for 2-0. Storm saw chances come and go to put the game beyond their opponents before FC Bury reduced the arrears to cut Storm's lead to just one goal at half time. FC Bury started well in the second half and after Storm's player Luke Bedforth was injured the visitors piled on the pressure. Beechy defended superbly to hold onto their slender lead before Abraham Abiola Joel secured the victory when once again he easily went past the keeper and slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net to complete the scoring. This was a really good performance from an in-form Storm outfit who just need to finish off teams when they are on top. Man of the Match was Storm's captain Jude Bedforth who produced a great individual display.

Some brilliant football throughout in their Section D home game with Astley Bridge Dynamoes by the Under 15's Tornadoes went unrewarded. The Tornadoes lost the game 2-1 but on another day Beechy will convert those chances on offer into goals. This was a great game to watch and on target with Tornadoes consolation goal was Man of the Match Jake Curry for putting in a display of real effort and endeavour.

In the Salford and Districts League the Under 13's Tornadoes were celebrating their first win of the season when they won 5-4 away against Reddish North End. Making a slow start the Tornadoes went a goal down but they soon found their rhythm and playing some great football were leading 2-1 at half times thanks to Farrell Williams-Smith who scored both goals. After the break Beechy again started slowly and found themselves 3-2 down after failing to deal with a couple of long throw-in's. But the Tornadoes quickly bounced back and Farrell Williams Smith completed his hat-trick to level the score at 3-3. Via the goal of the game Oliver Percival put the Tornadoes 4-3 up after he beat three Reddish players and coolly fired the ball low into the corner of the net. Oliver got his second goal for 5-3 then in the final seconds the Tornadoes conceded a penalty and from the spot-kick Reddish completed the scoring with virtually the last kick of the game.

Due to Covid isolations Beechy Under 13's Storm were missing key players but they managed to fulfil their Division 1 fixture with Salford Lads Club. Storm took the lead through Michael Walsh but despite having a greater share of the ball and creating a glut of chances Beechy were still just 1-0 up at half time. Salford Lads grabbed an equalising goal but Beechy regained the lead via an own goal before Salford Lads scored again and the match ended as a 2-2 draw. Storm's Man of the Match was Josh Rotherham for his great first display in defence then taking on the role of goalkeeper in the second half.

At Salford Sports Village the Under 12's Lightning (9v9) entertained Winton Wolves and were the better team for the majority of the first half, only undone by a dubious refereeing decision. The teams shared a 1-1 score line at the break and Beechy were highly confident when the second half kicked-off. Unfortunately Lightning couldn't take their chances and twice were caught napping against a technical and proficient Winton Wolves outfit. Despite the 3-1 defeat this was a very encouraging performance by Beechy who's consolation goal was scored by George Stanley. Man of the Match was Jai Devani-White for his relentless hard work in midfield.

Following a superb all-round performance the Under 12's Hurricanes (9v9) were fully rewarded with a 5-1 away win over neighbours Moorside Rangers Yellow. Man of the Match Joshua Whitehead (2) Henry Errington and Oliver Hall scored the goals for the Hurricanes who occupy second place in the Division 1 table.

The Under 11's (9v9) Blue Group game between Beechy Tornadoes and Winton Warriors was a closely fought affair that ended with a victory for Winton. Numerous chances were on offer but the Tornadoes couldn't add the required finish and Beechy still seek their first win of the season. Stewart Kay netted a consolation goal for the Tornadoes while Eddie McDonagh had opportunities to open his account this season. Beechy's defence played well but gifted Winton two goals while stand-in goalkeeper Josh Beddows produced two brilliant saves late in the game. Playing in an unfamiliar right back role was Reece Smith who displayed bags of energy throughout and was named Man of the Match.

Moorside Rangers Red were the Under 10's Storm's opponents for a Red Group fixture in the Salford and Districts League. Beechy had to deal with their opponents Astroturf Pitch which isn't the players favourite surface and it was only in the second half that Storm played their best football. Goalscorers for Beechy were Roman Sandaji, Ryden Coward and Man of the Match Harry Wallis who's great all-round performance earned him the award.

Ryan Pugh endured a busy Saturday when he took charge of both Under 8's fixtures. The Tornadoes versus AFC Monton Diablos Yellow Group encounter was a game of two halves and Beechy trailed by three goals at half time. But the Tornadoes players never gave up and continued to battle hard in the second half and thanks to their persistence and determination Beechy eventually won the game. Kai Barker got his name on the scoresheet again and Daniel Badewa was named Man of the Match.

At Beech Farm the Under 8's Storm met Swinton Lions and this match in the Blue Group was evenly balanced and chances were limited in the first half. Beechy deserved their two goal lead at the break and Storm added four more goals in the second period. This was a great all-round performance from the Beechy Boys considering they were missing goalkeeper Finn Lee. The Swinton Lions goalie put on a great display when Storm created lots of chances in the second half. Well done to all the Beechy players in both games.

Jacob Jeffrey scored a consolation goal for the Under 17's Tornadoes who were at home to Moss Bank Eagles. It was the visitors who dominated this Bolton Bury and District Section D fixture and won the match 7-1.
