- Another Vital Three Points For U/17's Storm
Beechfield United Under 17's Storm extended their unbeaten run in the Bolton Bury and District League to six games following a 4-2 home win over De La Salle Reds.
*On Saturday 22nd October 2022 this Section B fixture produced a fast and entertaining opening quarter-hour during which Beechy created a few half chances. De La Salle enjoyed a decent share of the ball and took the lead in the 28th minute but Storm equalised two minutes later when Bradley Oliver added a decisive finish following a pinpoint cross from Josh Everall. Beechy went 2-1 up through leading goalscorer Evan Hodson-Griffiths and as the fast action moved swiftly from end to end Storm's goalkeeper Lewis Wallis was called into action when he made a couple of fine reaction saves. When De La Salle threatened to score again Man of the Match Alfie Jones, Josh Everall and Christian Idusuyi produced some first-class defending.
Early in the second half Beechy soaked up a brief period of pressure before they took a 3-1 lead after Evan Hodson-Griffiths punished an error by the De La Salle keeper. Luka Ottiwell in midfield contributed with some vital tackles and distribution of the ball and Storm added goal number four when Bradley Oliver set-up Evan Hodson-Griffiths who completed his hat trick. De La Salle made a few substitutions in an effort to force their way back into the game and Harrison Davies caught the eye with some excellent ball winning tackles.
Sam Kemp had a good game in the second half and once again when De La Salle looked dangerous from free kicks and corners Alfie Jones dealt with the threat via some superbly timed headed clearances. Lewis Wallis made a brilliant one handed save after the De La Salle No7 broke the offside trap and a few minutes later the visitors keeper made an equally brilliant save after Bradley Oliver won the ball following a free kick. On eighty minutes a long range effort from De La Salle's No15 found the back of the net for 4-2 and though Beechy faced a period of late pressure they remained well organised and collected three more vital points.
