- Junior Section Match Details 27th/28th Oct 2018
Congratulations to Beechfield United Under 7's who secured their first victory of the season with a last minute winning goal against Urmston Town Lions. This nine goal thriller was a closely fought game with both goal keepers making brilliant saves throughout, the Urmston keeper also saving a penalty. Beechy's Player of the Match Oliver Cooper scored four goals and Aiden Gradwell got Beechy's other goal.
The Under 8's Storm versus Moorside Rangers Blue fixture turned out to be a great game of mini-soccer. The Storm went a goal down but they fought back and equalised though Rangers added two more goals. Continuing to work well as a team Storm were rewarded with two goals that earned them a score draw. Goal scorers for Beechy were Alfie Roddy, Ryden Coward and Kingsley Walters.
In the Under 9's Blue Group Beechy Lightning played local rivals Moorside Rangers Purple at Beech Farm. Finding their form in the second half United created some decent chances but were unable to add the finishing touch. Goalkeeper Brandon Booth was Man of the Match following an outstanding performance.
A very good all-round display from the Under 9's Tornadoes against Winton Spartans went unrewarded. After making a bad start in this Yellow Group home game the Tornadoes found themselves having to make up a three goal deficit. Josh Beddows had scored for Beechy shortly after hitting the post and he was on target again from the penalty-spot then Man of the Match Colin Twardak with his first goal for the club got the Tornadoes third goal but the Beechy boys just couldn't find an equaliser.
Making their debut in the Salford and District League were Beechy's new team the Under 9's Thunder who's opening Yellow Group fixture was away to Stretford Victoria Albion. Regarding several United lads this was the first real game they have played in. Thunder were two goals down at half time but a real positive for Beechy in the second half was that they matched their opponents and therefore the whole team shared the Man of the Match award. Manager Anthony Nuttall and Assistant Stephen Robinson both singled out goalkeeper Caleb Horrocks who made several great saves and Karell Jose Thomas who continually drove the team forward from midfield. Thunder's full list of players for the game were: Archie Gridlestone, Caleb Horrocks, Peter James Scott, Jaylen Jones, Karell Jose Thomas, Reece Leane, Lewis Milburn, Charlie Nuttall, Ryan Tien Vu.
Straight from the kick off in their Blue Group away game at Deans Sports the Under 10's Tornadoes put heavy pressure on their opponents. Beechy passed the ball superbly from back to front and scored three fantastic goals in the first half via Man of the Match George Rowbotham. Making some brilliant saves throughout the match was the Tornadoes keeper Asa Brown.
Suffering their first defeat of the season were the Under 10's Hurricanes. On Sunday morning Beechy were missing two key players for their away game with Manchester Maccabi Wolves. This was the Hurricanes toughest test to date and despite enough chances on offer United had only one goal to show for their effort through Man of the Match was Alfie Rostron.
Producing another high scoring performance were the Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) and Beechy stretched their unbeaten run in the Blue Group to five games. With regular goalkeeper Freddie Wardle unavailable both stand-in keepers Finley Fairhurst and Sam Rowbottom donned the gloves for a half each and were rarely troubled. Before his spell as keeper Sam Rowbotham helped himself to a first half hat trick and both Joel Thorndyke and Oliver Percival netted a goal apiece to give the Tornadoes a healthy half time lead. In the second half Beechy's overall play was much quicker and far more imaginative and opponents Swinton Junior Lions were constantly under pressure. Oliver Percival got his second goal, Finley Fairhurst scored twice, Lucas Walker fired home a cracking goal and Man of the Match Joel Thorndyke added three more goals himself. A great performance from the Tornadoes who hit double figures for the third time this season.
Despite making a great start with goals from Sonny O'Brien and Charlie Harris the Under 12's Typhoon (9v9) struggled against a physical De La Salle Reds outfit and throughout this Division 2 match Beechy were victim of some very harsh refereeing decisions. Jamie Withington scored a third goal for the Typhoon from the penalty-spot but De La Salle collected the three points via a 7-3 victory. Following a hard working display striker Ronan Mullen was named the Typhoon's Star Player.
Playing some great attacking football were the Under 11's Lightning (9v9) who made it four games unbeaten following a 6-3 home win over Prestwich Tigers. David Olidoy (4) Daniel Williams and Zane Davies got the goals as Beechy retained fourth place in the Division 4 table. Kyle Stafford was voted Man of the Match.
Man of the Match Dylan Walker scored six goals as the Under 11's Hurricanes (9v9) celebrated their first win of the season. Beechy were away at Winton Raptors and hit double figures in this Green Group fixture. The Hurricanes other goals came courtesy of Rian Haines, William Schofield and Harrison Tinald.
The Under 13's Storm were punished for making a poor start in their Section C home game with Horwich St Marys Rockets who took a 2-0 lead. Gradually Beechy found a better rhythm and reduced the arrears through Rafael Ceita but against the run of play Horwich St Marys scored again to lead 3-1. Putting the pressure back on their opponents the Storm were rewarded when Jayden Okoli was on target then just before half time Beechy were level thanks to another goal from Jayden. The Storm dominated the second half and were gifted the lead when the Horwich St Marys keeper miskicked the ball and taking full advantage was Ben Delaney who put Beechy 4-3 up. Man of the Match Jayden Okoli with an easy finish got his hat-trick then Rafael Ceita scored the goal of the game via a brilliant volley from a corner and added the gloss to this fully deserved 6-3 victory.
Playing away against De La Salle Devils the Under 13's Tornadoes secured their second Division 2 win of the season in the Salford and District League. Justin Suele (5) Bradley Oliver (4) Alexander Effio (2) Rafael Silviera and Charlie Mulvenna scored the goals as the Tornadoes reached double figures. For the Tornadoes officials this was a great game to watch with every Beechy player showing their true ability and naming a Man of the Match was a hard decision but eventually the award went to Luke Moss.
At Heaton Park Beechy Under 14's Tornadoes were in action against Prestwich Marauders Dragons. Man of the Match Tom Critchley and Max Chidgey netted the goals for the Tornadoes who were beaten 6-2 following this Division 2 game in the North Bury Junior Football League.
At home to Roach Dynamos Orange the Under 14's Thunder started a bit slow in this NBJFL Championship Division fixture. Slightly against the run of play Roach Dynamos took the lead but Beechy fought back and equalised when pressure on a Roach defender from Man of the Match Konstantin Hristova forced an own goal. Then following a slick counter-attack Prince Idusuyi scored to put Thunder ahead and Beechy were 2-1 up at the break. Thunder nearly increased their lead in the second half but the goal was disallowed for offside and two minutes later after a corner Roach Dynamos equalised. During the next ten minutes Thunder basically lost their way and conceded three goals one of which came from the penalty-spot. William Whipday got a third goal for Beechy but there was no late comeback and Thunder lost the match 5-3.
The Under 15's Sunday team kept their unbeaten run intact thanks to a 4-3 win over Brookland Dragons. But in this Timperley and District Division 4 away game United made a rather sluggish start and found themselves 2-0 down after twenty minutes. But Beechy soon got their act together and creating lots of chances were eventually rewarded when Jack Thompson (2) and Mathew Bennett were on target to give United a 3-2 lead at half time. In the second half more chances were on offer and Mathew Bennett added a fourth goal for Beechy before Brookland Dragons scored again. Named Man of the Match was Jono Devine. United currently occupy fourth place in the league table.
