- Beechy Hit The Ground Running
Beechfield Senior Saturday morning league team got off to an exceptional start at home to Brushes FC this morning (03/09/16)
Despite it being the opening fixture of the new season over 10 players were not available, this meant that the team had a bare 11 players with the manager on the bench as a sub! However the 11 players put in a really great performance winning what should have been a tough game 5-0.
Both teams started brightly producing some good intelligent football, but after 6 minutes Roy Owen robbed Brushes centre half of the ball and then played a through ball for his partner Kane Branigan, Kane took the ball and rounded the keeper before he slotted into an empty net. Despite being the dominant side and playing quality football that created several chances Beechy couldn't add to the scoreline before half time.
After the half time interval however Beechy were rampant scoring 3 goals inside the opening 8 minutes, 1 from Roy Owen and another 2 for Kane giving him his hat trick on his debut. Beechy dominated the 2nd half and Roy got his 2nd goal with an overhead kick after 70 minutes. Man of the Match went to Kane but there were 11 top quality performances. The football, commitment and running were a joy to watch.
