POSTED: September 07 2018 22:34:10 By Keith Long - Quick Return To Winning Ways For 1st Team

Less than twenty four hours after their defeat against Manchester Central a rejuvenated Beechy 1st Team were back in action in the Manchester Football League and re-discovered the winning formula thanks to a 3-1 away win over Bolton County. In this Premier Division fixture United were on the attack within the opening sixty seconds when Carl Ravenscroft and Jordan Jones-Waite combined in a swift move on the left wing than won Beechy a throw-in. Bolton County responded via good counter-attacking soccer forcing some great defensive work from both Luke Johnston and Man of the match Tim Taylor. Beechy forced three successive corners then play quickly switched in to United's half and County won a couple of flag kicks forcing a hasty clearance from Carl Ravenscroft and a top-class save by Robert Harrison. On Bolton County's slightly narrow pitch the ball spent a lot of time out of play and both teams were awarded numerous throw-ins on both flanks.

A brilliant first time pass by Jamie Sinnott set-up a great chance for Kurtis Lee who after creating the perfect angle fired the ball wide then Kurtis sent a header over the crossbar following a corner. United took a deserved lead in the 13th minute when a cross by Jordan Jones-Waite drifted to the back of the area and the unmarked Jamie Sinnott had an easy close range finish. Great defending by Tim Taylor denied County a rapid equaliser then Robert Harrison made another fine save after the ball deflected off a Beechy player. Overall United dominated possession and Bolton County's back four struggled to deal with Beechy's effective long ball tactic. Another attacking surge from the hosts briefly had United in defensive mode but with Gareth Mooney, Steven Erskine and Mike Phythian controlling the midfield United always looked capable of adding more goals. A brilliant move involving Jamie Sinnott, Gareth Mooney and Mike Phythian opened up County's defence but Jordan Jones-Waite volleyed the ball wide.

Eventually Beechy were rewarded with their second goal on thirty two minutes after an excellent long ball from Louis Duff was controlled by Kurtis Lee who's outstanding finish created the highlight of the match. Keeping the pressure on their opponents United continued to produce more top-class soccer thanks to a superb all-round performance. But just before the end of the first half Bolton County were awarded a penalty for handball and their No10 scored from the spot-kick to cut United's lead to 2-1 at the break. There was slight pressure on Beechy early in the second half as County forced a couple of corners and Robert Harrison was soon in action with more impressive goalkeeping. After a slow start Beechy found a better rhythm moving the ball around a lot quicker and a clever pass from Kurtis Lee found Gareth Mooney in space and his first time shot curled just wide of the target. At the end of United's next counter-attack a low cross by Jamie Sinnott was met by Kurtis Lee and he side footed the ball over the crossbar.

Approaching the hour mark the game was more evenly balanced as Bolton County enjoyed their best period of possession but on sixty two minutes United added goal number three. Making a strong challenge to win the ball was Jordan Jones-Waite and he produced a powerful solo run that ended with a deep cross which was met by Louis Duff who after arriving unnoticed at the back post planted a header high into the net. Great skill by Gareth Mooney created a golden opportunity of a goal for Jordan Jones-Waite but United's No10 hammered the ball onto the crossbar. Marcus Belcher replaced Mike Phythian who had another very good game and during the final fifteen minutes solid defending from Louis Duff, Tim Taylor and Luke Johnston easily dealt with a flux of counter-attacks from the hosts. Another chance of a fourth Beechy goal arrived after eighty eight minutes but Jamie Sinnott's effort bounced back into play off the crossbar.
