- Junior Section Match Details 8th Sept 2018
Just four teams from Beechfield United Junior Section were in action on the first Saturday of their 2018/2019 season.
Now playing in the North Bury Junior League are the Under 14's Thunder who opened up their campaign in the Championship Division with a home game against Rossendale Valley Tigers. Beechy produced a decent enough display and in the first half were credited with playing some nice football but Thunder lost the match 3-2. Winning the midfield battle Beechy created many chances in the final third though they failed to test the visitors keeper. Eventually Thunder made the vital breakthrough when last seasons top goal scorer Prince Idusuyi produced a clinical finish for the opening goal. Beechy took their 1-0 lead into the second half that was more evenly balanced though Rossendale Valley didn't really trouble Beechy's defensive trio in open play. But unfortunately for Thunder the visitors took full advantage when they equalised following a corner but Beechy regained the lead after being awarded a penalty for a foul on William Whipday and Harvey Walker scored from the resulting spot-kick. Then with fifteen minutes left to play Rossendale Valley drew level again this time from the penalty spot. The Beechy boys were obviously disappointed after some slack defending led to the visitors scoring a third goal that secured them a narrow victory and though Thunder worked hard in a effort to force at least a draw they ran out of time. Dominic Lawton was named Man of the Match.
The Under 14's Tornadoes played their first ever game in the North Bury Junior League. Beechy were away to Littleborough Junior Yellow for this Division 2 fixture and at the final whistle found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-3 score line. Goals for the Tornadoes came via debutant Tom Critchley, Max Chidgey (penalty) and a screamer from the edge of the area by captain Andrew Woodward. Beechy fielded six new players including goalkeeper Ben Brown who made several great saves during a lively contest.
In the Bolton Bury and District League both the Under 15's Tornadoes and Under 16's Tornadoes tasted victory following their opening day fixtures. At home to Ringley Park Rangers in Section D the Under 15's Tornadoes dominated this match and were rewarded with a 6-2 win. Beechy who were 4-1 up at half time had Man of the Match Jack Broadie (hat-trick) Billy Wadeson, Fernley Davies and Charlie Wallwork on target with their goals.
Away at Tiki Taka Madrid in Section B United's Under 16's Tornadoes made a convincing start to their season courtesy of an 8-0 victory. The whole team played really well throughout without any major problems. Man of the Match Ademola Olusanya (hat-trick) Leighton White (2) Jack Rodgers, Mylo Thornton and Jeanny Le Blance scored the goals.
