U8 THUNDER
Urmston Meadowside Bears versus
Beechfield Thunder U/8's
Early start to the season for the thunder boys away at Urmston Meadowside and the lads were quick off the mark, pressing Urmston with some good attacking play from Che and Ralph. The Beechy boys looking ready for battle and they were forced into some early defensive duties with today's captain Elliot and Angelo managing the backline together. An attacking break from thunder led by Elliot down the right flank looked promising and he only had one thing in his mind unleashing a exocet missile that flew into the top corner, a definite early contender for goal of the season 💥. Thunder came under pressure after the restart and defended well but a determined Urmston managed to pull one back after some defensive errors in the box leading to an easy finish for the opposition forward. Undeterred thunder were straight back on the front foot with Ralph showing some good footwork and finding Che who nicely slotted in thunder's second goal. Thunder were hungry for more and it was Che who this time found Ralph leading to a one on one with the Urmston keeper who made a good save. Che's none stop running paid off shortly after where he made a bursting run and was brought down in the box and thunder were awarded a penalty. Che stepped up and made sure with a cool finish leaving the Urmston keeper with no chance. Into the second half and José was making himself a nuisance in the opposition's half and gio showing some good interceptions. Urmston started to pressure the thunder boy's and Bobby was called into action making some good saves and commanding the box from successive corner's. Thunder managed to find there second wind with some good play from the marauding gio and José found himself in space to fire in a pinpoint finish in the bottom corner. The thunder boy's were now purring with confidence, Angelo showing some good skills into the box and being brought down leading to a second penalty being awarded. Angelo stepped up to take the penalty but unfortunately the Urmston keeper guessed right to make the save. Not deterred by his penalty miss Angelo found himself in space again shortly after on the edge of the box where he slotted in a neat finish to make it 5 for the thunder boy's. A cracking performance from the lads today and a great start to the league campaign ⚡.
Man of the match today was awarded to Che for his persistent work rate and two excellent goals âš½
