Team start up:
Setup in the Summer of 24 to help give the increasing number of lads attending training more game time the Tornadoes have been training hard and chomping at the bit for competition.
Match Day:
A stones throw from the Manchester ship canal, ring-necked Parakeets gave a noisy welcome to the Beechy Tornado Boys, circling in tight flocks voicing Predator alarms as though alerting for a Peregrine soaring overhead... but like the great ships that once sailed the Canal to the Birds original faraway homelands, they soon made way for the Tornado Boys and set the scene for the match ahead...
The Excitement and anticipation from the squad had that fine rain on power line electric feeling and the boys got off to a nervous start with some scary giveaways from all over the park and allowing several chances for Flixton. Cormack was in the zone this week and like a Giant Bat bursting from it's cave for a night feed flew from his net to close down players again and again letting his defence know they needed to do more! The game was very close and the Teams well matched, some early combination play between Bryce and Bodie was not enough as the Flixton keeper was proving to also be excellent.
The boys began to settle and the nervous mis-kicks disappeared for the more solid passing they are capable of and the break came from some solid defending by Amir then Kayden who seamlessly collected the ball and pushed it forward on to a rapid attacking run at the defence and blasting in his first competition goal, superb effort and well deserved. Oscar our silent but deadly head of operations at the back excelled in getting to the ball first, making his tackles and finding his passes. Flixton were getting comfortable on the ball at times and their forward collected the ball from some very good play and actually chipped the keeper for what was surely a goal but Always there Amir like the Manchester Peregrine Tiercel stooping for his Parakeet and in true Rapid Rene of last years Thunder style came hurtling across the box to clear it away from the goal line and save Beechy's clean sheet.
Bodie Morrison who we knew could tackle and find a beautiful pass has a new found thirst for goals and was an absolute machine up and down the right wing putting balls into the box and getting shots off as well as working back to defend. Going in to the second half 1-0 up and now uphill the Beechy Boys surprisingly took it up another level with a barrage of attacks, Oscar closing down loose balls at the back, Cormack like a bat out of hell controlling his goal, Kayden the prime example of what training and confidence brings flying down the wing ripping the defence apart and pinging in beautiful crosses and great shots and soon found his second goal with a cross and deflection the defence could not deal with. 2-0.
Amir was back in the fold and hungry for a goal stretching his legs attacking the Flixton defence head on and following several great attacks eventually found his mark with a well-placed shot 3-0.. Amir also covered the back when required and fed the ball out well and had some stunning runs! Bodie on the right feeding Bryce and Kayden it was only a matter of time before the superb keeper was beaten again and Kayden pinged home a great shot.. 4-0 and hat-trick for Kayden! Bryce the brilliant poacher was turning the defence inside out and had several sure goals well cleared and saved and unlucky not to score and also put in some important tackling and defence work when required.
Flixton attacked again with Bodie and Amir Teaming up to win the ball in their 18 yard box taking possession, Bodie pushed it forward and went on an amazing full pitch run taking on the remaining defence with confidence getting in to the box and was able to apply the 'coup de grace' slotting the ball exquisitely past the keeper to make it 5-0, a superb Captains goal and the beaming smiles on the Beechy Boys faces said it all. Great Team performance through the whole team, excellent passing, outstanding attacking play, courageous goalkeeping and defending, fitness was good and above all the attitude was superb making parents and all involved extremely proud.
