U8's THUNDER
Beechfield Thunder v Deans Youth
First home game of the season for the Thunder boys against Deans Youth on a bright Saturday morning. Thunder got off to a competitive start against a physical Dean's Youth who were making the lads work hard for every ball from the get go. Captain Elliott and Angelo leading the back line with Che and José leading the attacking front. Thunder got off to a good start but were making it hard work for themselves with some great early chances being squandered in the final third. A back and forth period for both teams and some physical challenges going in setting the scene for a battle field instead of a stroll on the beach. Into the final third of the first half and it was the Deans who struck first after a good bit of counter attacking play broke through the Thunder defence and left Bobby with little chance to get to the ball before the Dean's attacker neatly finished his chance. Into the start of the second half and it was proving to be playing out similar to the first half with the thunder boys creating some good opportunities but coming short in the final stages. The ever menacing Ralph coming into play showing some great footwork at times but again the tough defence of the Deans proving to be a real tough test for the Thunder boys to break through. Deans came knocking at the Beechy door for a second and they were given the key with some scrappy play at the back that led to a Deans second. Frustration setting into the Beechy boys but they continued to put up a fight with José s bullish runs coming close to a Thunder opener but the Deans back line proving a stern test. Thunder continued with some good fighting spirit with Gio making some excellent tackles and breaking play but again it was Deans who capitalized on a loose ball which led to a third goal. A rough and tough one today for lads but one they will learn from going into the next game ⚡
Man of Match - Elliot, a captain's performance today he never gave up showing a great work rate, good tackling and attacking runs 👍
