POSTED: September 21 2017 17:23:24 By Keith Long - Decent Display But Sat Morning Team Beaten

At home to West Didsbury for their second Division 1 fixture of the season Beechfield United Saturday Morning Senior Team produced a decent display but were left wondering how they managed to suffer a 4-1 defeat. The first half included just one goal that arrived after ten minutes when West Didsbury took the lead. In the second half the visitors edged 2-0 up on sixty five minutes after United were guilty of some poor defending following a corner. Beechy fought back and playing some attractive soccer reduced the arrears in the 75th minute when Kyle Mears won possession in the midfield area and supplied a great through ball for Wes Pierce who finished the move with a neat finish.

But four minutes later no United player made a challenge on a couple of West Didsbury forwards who operated a quick one-two and the ball was fired into the net from twelve yards. As they continued to push more players up field in an effort to salvage at least a draw Beechy were caught by a quick counter-attack and a West Didsbury striker completed the scoring in the last minute. United's Man of the Match was keeper Dan Lee. Old Stretfordians are Beechy's next opponents on 23/9/2017 and United will be hoping to secure themselves a moral boosting victory.
