Following two successive defeats Beechfield United First Team re-discovered the winning formula thanks to a top-notch display that secured a 4-0 away win over Westbury Sports. Before kick-off the home teams pitch was cut up in places following an earlier junior game but this didn't cause too many problems for the players. Westbury won the games first corner that was confidently dealt with and United responded with Mike Roberson and Rob Lockley involved in a quick passing move down the right flank. Then minutes later after Westbury had created a few more worthwhile moves involving their No2 superb link-up play between Steven Erskine, Mike Phythian and Carl Ravenscroft forced a Beechy corner. Westbury Sports continued to enjoy a fair share of the ball in the opening quarter-hour and United keeper Robert Harrison made a couple of important saves. Luke Johnston produced a vital first time clearance after Westbury won another corner but slowly Beechy began to dictate the pace of the game and had a goal disallowed.

It was a tight decision in the 29th minute against Jordan Jones-Waite who had timed his run into the area after Mike Rogerson had diverted a cross by Jamie Sinnott back into the area. A well timed ball winning tackle by Carl Ravenscroft instigated a quick one-two with Jordan Jones-Waite who this time turned provider setting-up a decent chance for Jamie Sinnott. But Jamie made amends on thirty four minutes when he scored at the second attempt to give United the lead after great play between Steven Erskine and Jordan Jones-Waite. Two minutes later Beechy went 2-0 up when a quickly taken free kick by Rob Lockley caught Westbury defenders napping and Jamie Sinnott raced clear unchallenged and his accurate cross was met by Jordan Jones-Waite who fired the ball into the roof of the net. Westbury Sports reverted to a greater use of the long ball tactic in the hope of unsettling United's back three of Tim Taylor, Rob Lockley and Luke Johnston who easily dealt with any pressure.

Early in the second half Westbury played at a quicker pace looking to force a way back into the contest and on one occasion their No6 had a scoring opportunity but he blasted the ball wide of the target from outside the area. But the home side were soon forced to be more defensive as Beechy with Chris Ferris heavily involved in the action slowly dominated possession as they stepped up a gear. United's third goal arrived in the 57th minute when Jamie Sinnott took full advantage of a defenders misplaced back pass and casually back-heeled the ball into the net. Louis Duff replaced Player Manager Steven Erskine on sixty two minutes and totally dominating this Manchester Football League Division 1 contest Beechy added their fourth goal four minutes later. The hard working Mike Phythian started the move via a forward pass onto Jamie Sinnott who attempted an acrobatic overhead kick and luckily the ball flew towards Louis Duff and United's substitute furnished a neat close range finish.

A rare chance was on offer for the Westbury Sports No8 who hammered the ball in frustration well wide of the target. United made two more substitutions that saw Andrzej Browne and Kurtis Lee taking over from Carl Ravenscroft and Mike Phythian. Maintaining a constant flow of powerful attacks Beechy totally outplayed their opponents in the last twenty minutes with wing back Mike Rogerson given acres of room to make numerous surging runs down the right flank. Man of the Match Chris Ferris sent Louis Duff on another mazy run and the Beechy youngster's cross found Kurtis Lee who easily slotted the ball past the keeper but the goal was disallowed for offside. United were a joy to watch in the latter stages and a perfect cross field pass by Luke Johnston sent Rob Lockley racing forward and after he sent the ball across the area a shot on target from Jordan Jones-Waite forced a corner. Westbury's efforts to grab a late consolation goal were constantly denied following some top-class defending by Beechy and Tim Taylor was a key figure as United were rewarded with their third clean sheet of the season.
