Beechfield Thunder U/8's v
Urmston Meadowside Lions

Second home game for the Thunder boys against another Urmston Meadowside team and this time it was the Lions coming to the den for revenge after we successfully dispatched their Bears team on our first outing of the season ⚡.

A bright morning and another bright start from Thunder who got straight on the attacking front led by Ralph and José with the back line being orchestrated by goalkeeper Bobby, Elliot and captain Che. The Lions weren't here to lay down and soon came back at Thunder with some good attacking play of their own. The game looked very evenly matched early on with back and forth play from both teams. Into the middle of the first half and it was the Lions who took the lead after an unfortunate Che saw a shot in the box come ricocheting off his leg and into the Thunder goal.

Thunder were soon back to their attacking shape with Ralph showing his tricky footwork down the right wing leading to a breakaway for José who charged at the lions like a raging bull slotting home a neat finish past the keeper. The lions came back from the off and it was the ever commanding Bobby saving thunder with some terrific one on one saves to keep it all square going into the halftime break. The start of the second half playing out very similar to the first with both teams trading blows back and forth, Elliot making his darting runs and finding space but just couldn't get his rocket right foot working on the target.

Thunder needed a break and it was Gio who would provide the spark showing great tackling and strength in the midfield to create an opening for Ralph who showed composure firing in a lovely finish that left the Lions keeper with no chance. Heading towards the end of the match it was looking like a hard fought Thunder win but the Lions found the equaliser from a loose ball in the Thunder box that resulted in an easy finish for the Lions forward. A very close game that could of gone either way but in the end a draw was a fair result for the two evenly matched teams.

Man of Match - Bobby, he saved Thunder on a couple of occasions making some outstanding saves.
