A good fresh morning at home on the sleepy Beechy Fields, the 8:40 starts still proving difficult for some to execute but pitch set up nice and early ready for the three exciting Under 8's games ahead. The Beechfield Tornadoes were instantly stunned with a well-versed goal from Moorside and the difference in experience and level was soon to become apparent. The Beechy Boys would not let this affect them and returned with some great attacking play, Bodie dribbling in from the wing and pinging the ball in to the box but Moorside first to the ball and able to clear their lines, Bryce playing a corner back to Brayden whose first time shot went just wide, Beechfield were showing some exciting prospect and the attacks continued with Brayden giving a powerful dribbling run and a shot from outside the box, the ball pinging off the post and right across goal but Bryce just couldn't get to it and the Moorside team had a lucky escape again.
Bryce came close to scoring with balls in from the right from Bodie but the Moorside defence were very quick and adept to dealing with such pressure. The initial game looked like it could be quite well matched but Moorside with an array of players and obvious high level talent brought in to the fold it proved too much for the new squad. Cormack the Man of the Match pulled off save after save but with the attacks getting through and players finding time to shoot it was too much to handle but was to prove a great learning curve for the new boys, albeit a difficult pill to swallow at the time. The game drifted away from Beechfield but they never gave up, Oscar showing determination to win the tackles and get the ball up field with some great defending, Amir started to find his feet and had some fine battles thwarting attacks and looking for a pass but Moorside were giving a fine example of how to close play down quickly and use the ball.
Kayden continued his superb runs down the wing giving a taster of what is to come, speed, agility and pure excitement for the crowd and terror for defenders.. Bodie fought hard winning some great battles on the wing with the defence doubling up at times proving difficult to break down and get the pass away. Brayden scoring two super goals in succession with some lovely dribbling it was to a prove a strong finish from Beechfield.. To cap it off and give some cheer to the home crowd a free kick was given to Beechfield near the half way line where the multi talented Brayden stepped up and taking a couple breathes and big exhale struck the ball perfectly and it screamed in to the top of the net leaving the keeper no chance and Brayden showing what his constant practising can achieve. A heavy loss for Beechfield but part of their learning and development against a more experienced Team and the boys knowing more steak required on the menu this week! Some really good positives to take away and be built on and show what needs to be worked on in training to continue to improve and develop.
