Beechy Saturday Morning Open Age Storm lost their Manchester Evening News Cup 1st Round tie with AWFC following a penalty shoot-out.

*On Saturday 6th December 2025 Beechy Storm had home advantage for the MEN Cup 1st Round tie with AWFC and despite the atrocious weather the teams served up an entertaining contest. Beechy started really well and passing the ball with both pace and accuracy created some decent chances before Man of the Match Oliver Lawton gave Storm the lead via a brilliant finish from the edge of the area. AWFC struggled to find an answer to Beechy's quality football and Max O'Brien put Storm 2-0 up with a close range finish after great skill down the right wing by Joe Northall. AWFC got back into the tie and reduced the arrears from a well executed free kick awarded on the edge of the area. HT Beechy 2 v AWFC 1. Storm's opponents made a confident start in the second half and forcing some heavy Beechy defending the visitors made it 2-2. AWFC dominated the second forty five minutes and as both teams strived to get a match winner in normal time Storm had limited goalscoring opportunites.
