South Manchester 4 - 0 Typhoon
Well if you look at this scoreline it looks like a battering but sometimes headlines don’t tell the hole truth.
It was a beautiful sunny morning but we were still playing on Astro. We got together with the boys and discussed how important the first ten minutes would be as they accustomed themselves to the pitch and how they had to battle for everything. So, as usual, the boys paid no attention 😤, were bamboozled by the bounce, were all over the place and found themselves two down in that ten. This was where the match was lost. The last time we played South Manchester was similar with us going in three down at the break but recovering to get a draw. So, for the remaining fifty minutes I thought we played some great stuff. Peter pulled off some great saves, Freddie marshalled the defence admirably in a man of the match performance and we got on top. Joseph took control of the midfield and Cole, Jamie and Charlie got some lovely moves together up front. We just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. It was great to see the effort Ronan put in, tracking back at speed to help out his teammates. Harley got stuck in and even got round the back as a left winger. Harry showed real improvement with his reading of the game despite his heel injury and Daniel was a dervish filling in at left back, even taking the odd touch.
If we could have just got one goal things might have been different but as the chances went begging you could see the confidence drop. We conceded two more, both rather unlucky. Harry read a throughball but just failed to cut it out and one bounced in off the post and Peter.
A cruel lesson but one we need to learn from. You start at the first whistle and you have to take your chances. Unlucky boys, your performance deserved much more
